Suitable for: Receiving containers with an internal diameter of 30.6–30.8 cm. Recommended: Logar filling containers Ø 30.7 cm (35, 50 kg). (Max. container outside diameter: approx. 30.5 cm.)
The Honeytherm melter is designed for liquefying, thawing, fine-filtering, clarifying and filling honey. The Honeytherm can fully liquefy melezitose honey without heat damage, so the honey retains its biological value. The unit is part of the Logar range for professional honey processing and is especially recommended for use with Logar filling containers.
The Honeytherm consists of:
- Clarifying vessel with perforated bottom
- Heating element with clamp housing and capillary thermostat
- Nylon mesh straining bag, fine — retains even the smallest impurities but allows pollen to pass (washable, reusable)
Advantages of the Honeytherm
- Perforated bottom and perforated lower jacket section of the clarifying vessel: no additional spacer ring required, better stability on the receiving container and controlled steam escape.
- Steam escapes through the perforated jacket without condensing back into the honey, enabling a reduction of moisture content by up to approx. 1%.
- Additional drip rim beneath the vessel bottom prevents honey from leaking through the holes.
- High-quality, waterproof aluminium clamp housing for the heating coil.
- Use of a straining bag for filtering is recommended; it facilitates placement on the clarifying vessel and improves stability.
Melting and fine-filtering process
Place a suitable receiving container (internal Ø 30.6–30.8 cm) under the Honeytherm. We recommend Logar filling containers with an internal diameter of 30.7 cm (35, 50 kg). Insert the straining bag into the clarifying vessel, stretch it over the rim and place the heating coil inside. Add the honey so that the lower heating coil is completely covered. Only then set the thermostat to approx. 65 °C.
Wait until honey begins to drip through the perforated bottom of the clarifying vessel. After about 5–10 minutes, reduce the temperature until the indicator light goes out — this determines the individual melting point. During liquefaction, an operating temperature of about 5–10 °C above the observed melting point is recommended.
Crystals that cause crystallisation are retained in the straining bag. Steam escapes through the perforated lower part of the clarifying vessel, which can also reduce the moisture content. The Honeytherm and the straining bag can be easily cleaned after use with warm water.
Liquefying melezitose honey
The Honeytherm can liquefy and clarify melezitose honeys without overheating — ideal for preparing honey for sale. Melezitose crystals are very fine and require at least 60 °C to melt. Important: Melezitose honeys must not be processed with a temperature setting below 60 °C, must not be filtered directly from the extractor through the Honeytherm, and must not be introduced into the unit already pre-liquefied.
Capacity
Approximately 8–16 kg of crystallised honey can be melted and fine-filtered per hour (processing time depends on honey type).
Additional accessories (recommended)
- Acrylic lid for Honeytherm (Art. 715502)
- Fine sieve for Honeytherm, Melitherm fi 30 cm, stainless steel (Art. 715503)
- Straining bag for Honeytherm - 47 x 65 cm (Art. 7153)
- Rubber bands for straining bag (Art. 715505): prevent the straining bag from slipping into the container
The Honeytherm is designed so that the melted honey immediately flows into the lower container and does not remain on the heating coil to overheat — preserving the honey's biological value. As a Logar product, the Honeytherm is optimised for professional honey processing and is particularly suitable in combination with Logar filling solutions.
