Suitable for: Whole combs/frames (no cutting) – ideal for melting cappings wax, melezitose and crystallised honey. Capacity: approx. 40 kg of cappings wax; space for approx. 14 Zander / 14 DNM / 28 Dadant sheets / approx. 12 Langstroth (1/1) or 18 AZ. Maximum internal dimensions: inner kettle diameter 63 cm, internal height 51 cm.
The cappings wax melter enables an easy separation of honey from the cappings due to the circulating hot air. This melting method is especially suitable for beekeepers who uncap frames with machines or electric knives, as more honey remains in the cappings with these uncapping methods.
The body of the melter is insulated and protected by a stainless steel sheet, which reduces heat loss and shortens the wax-melting time. The bottom of the melter is seam-welded and sloped towards the outlet.
The heating element is located in the heated lid of the vessel. The temperature can be set with a thermostat between 30°–90°C. A fan with circulating air ensures an even temperature throughout the container. The cappings begin to melt, the honey flows to the bottom of the vessel, and the molten wax covers the honey, protecting it from overheating.
After the honey has melted, you can let it drain after about two hours. Open the squeeze valve and let the honey flow through a sieve into a suitable bucket or container. Remove the cooled wax layer for further processing once the wax has fully hardened.
All parts of the melter that come into contact with honey are made from food-grade materials.
INTENDED USEThe cappings wax melter, based on evenly distributed hot air above the stainless steel ring of the unit, allows:
- easy separation of honey from the cappings,
- melting of frames with melezitose honey or crystallised honey – you can place whole frames in the unit without cutting them,
- warming honey in jars, buckets and smaller containers.
The HMF value of the honey is not significantly affected.
This melezitose and cappings melter can significantly improve the efficiency of your honey harvest and make your work easier. The melter is suitable for both hobby and professional beekeepers.
Optional accessories:- Crossbar with spike (
Art. 8046) – for frame uncapping with a knife, working height = 98 cm
- Two-sided uncapping rack (
Art. 8045) – for uncapping with an uncapping fork, working height = 104 cm
- Jacket for decrystallisation Ø 63 cm, height 95 cm made of galvanized sheet (
Art. 329509) – for decrystallisation and warming honey in larger containers (max. Ø 52 cm, max. height = 80 cm).
- Frame holder and drip tray (
Art. 329502) – in combination with the mounted crossbar with spike or the uncapping rack, allows simple, quick and hygienic uncapping in a small space (up to 10 frames).
- Lid with gasket Ø 63 cm for 3295 with handles (
Art. 329505) – with a suitable hole for the hose of a steam generator the melter can be converted into a steam melter for melting old combs.
- Timer (
Art. 329514) – simply plug it into a socket and select the desired running time. The unit switches off automatically when the time has elapsed.
